Murray Smith

È professore di Philosophy, Art, and Film alla University of Kent, dove dirige l’Aesthetics Research Centre. È stato presidente della Society for Cognitive Studies of the Moving Image. Il suo Engaging Characters: Fiction, Emotion, and the Cinema (1995; seconda edizione rivista 2022) è un classico degli studi cognitivisti sul ruolo delle emozioni nell’esperienza filmica. Ha co-curato importanti volumi collettanei come Film Theory and Philosophy (1997), Contemporary Hollywood Cinema (1998) e Thinking Through Cinema (2006).
